English Way

Discover the English Way and enjoy an authentic Camino de Santiago experience, ideal for those seeking a short route full of history and charm. This route takes its name from the pilgrims who arrived from Northern Europe by sea, landing in Galicia before continuing on foot to Santiago de Compostela.

The English Way combines green landscapes, Galician tradition and tranquility, passing through forests, rural areas and small villages rich in history. It is the perfect option to disconnect from daily stress and enjoy an intense experience in just a few days.

Each stage offers close contact with local culture and a quieter atmosphere compared to more crowded routes. The English Way is ideal both for a first Camino experience and for those seeking authenticity and relaxation.

English Way from Ferrol

The English Way from Ferrol is the most popular option, as it allows you to cover the approximately 120 km required to obtain the Compostela.

The route is usually completed in 5 to 6 stages, following a varied itinerary through coastline, estuaries and rural Galician landscapes.

Example stages:

  • Ferrol – Neda
  • Neda – Pontedeume
  • Pontedeume – Betanzos
  • Betanzos – Hospital de Bruma
  • Bruma – Sigüeiro
  • Sigüeiro – Santiago de Compostela

Along the way, you will discover charming villages, medieval bridges and lush natural surroundings. It is an accessible, well-marked route, perfect for those with limited time.

Northern Way

Discover the Northern Way, one of the most spectacular routes of the Camino de Santiago. This itinerary follows the northern coast of Spain, offering breathtaking views of the Cantabrian Sea, wild beaches and unique natural landscapes.

The Northern Way is ideal for those seeking a more adventurous and less crowded experience. It crosses the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia, combining sea, mountains and rich cultural heritage.

Along the route, you will pass through historic cities, fishing villages and unforgettable coastal paths. It is a more demanding route, but also one of the most rewarding.

3 reviews for English Way – Northern Way

  1. Oliver

I chose the English Way from Ferrol since I only had a week, and it was the perfect introduction to the Camino. It’s quiet, authentic, and deeply relaxing. The rural Galician villages were beautiful. The accommodations were excellent and very clean. Taking one star off because it rained a bit, but that’s Galicia for you!

  2. Andrew

If you want to avoid the massive crowds of the French Way, this is the way to go. The Northern route is physically demanding with lots of hills, but highly rewarding. The local support was fantastic—everything from the hotel bookings to the route notes was flawlessly organized. A peaceful and very well-managed trip.

  3. Chloe

Absolutely breathtaking! Walking along the cliffs with the Cantabrian Sea right beside you on the Northern Way is an experience I will never forget. The contrast of wild beaches and green hills was stunning. Having our luggage transferred seamlessly made it so much easier to just focus on the views. 10/10!
